Senior OT / IT / ISM leader who still ships production systems
Hey — I'm Marc
I'm Marc Strub — Head of OT, IT & Information Security Management at Renata (Swatch Group), based in Switzerland. I own the security and industrial-systems mandate, and I still ship the platforms that sit inside it.
I started in the early 2000s on shop-floor automation: PLCs, SCADA, and the realities of production uptime. That path led into industrial data platforms — MQTT/EMQX messaging, schema-first warehouses, DuckDB analytics, investigation UIs, and OT/IT security that has to survive a running factory.
At Renata I lead OT, IT, and ISM while remaining hands-on. ADDA (battery-defect forensics on HLL2), the production MQTT/EMQX backbone, and the pipelines behind them are systems I design, operate, and stay accountable for — including the 2 a.m. incidents.
Outside the plant, I publish open-source tooling for agent-safe analytics over DuckDB and MotherDuck (mcp-server-motherduck, databao-agent, workshops). Same theme as on the line: useful systems with clear boundaries — not playground demos.
I care about evenhandedness between OT and IT, shipping tools people actually rely on, and owning outcomes rather than renting forever. English and German. Fastest path: email or LinkedIn.
